In June 1929 Clement Keys, a financier and the owner of North American aviation, bought all the shares of Pitcairn Aviation and re-sold them two weeks later to North American Aviation. The company was then re-named Eastern Air Transport.
After being purchased by General Motors in 1934 the airline became known as Eastern Airlines. Eastern was one of the "Big Four" domestic airlines and had a near monopoly in air travel between New York and Florida from the 1930's until the 1950's.
Eastern was forced into liquidation in 1991.
The aircraft depicted in the label is a Curtiss T-32 Condor used by Eastern between 1930-36.
This label was collected on journey New York - Miami in 1932.
