WRIGHT, Mabel Osgood. Birdcraft. A Field Book of Two Hundred Song, Game and Water Birds. New York: The Macmillan Company. 1907.
8vo. Original blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine; pp xxii + 317, 80 b&w plates including frontispiece; very good, especially internally.
Sixth edition. Mabel Osgood Wright was a popular American author of children's books but also wrote adult books, which typically drew inspiration from her surroundings in Fairfield, Connecticut. As the founding president of the Audubon Society she was more than qualified to write on the subject of birds, and here she combines narrative and observation with great charm and wit in what became a very popular book.
