DNA is the molecule of heredity and to understand its structure is to understand how forms of life are coded from one generation to the next. The Double Helix is the auto-biographical account of the phenomonal discovery of the double helix by Watson who, with Crick and Wilkins, won the 1962 Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology through their astounding disocovery of this molecular structure. In 1998, the Modern Library placed The Double Helix at number 7 on its list of the 100 best nonfiction books of the 20th century.
