Large 8vo.; publisher's burgundy card covers elaborately panelled and decorated in gilt to upper cover with onlaid pictorial plate of a bear and a salmon, pictorial goose endpapers printed in brown and gilt; pp. [24]; printed throughout on variously coloured card, including linen-grained stock; beautifully illustrated with 12 exquisite coloured plates (including one double-page) and other highly detailed illustrations printed in sepia line to compliment the printed calligraphic script; with a tipped-in Introduction to the book fashioned as a Registered Airmail Letter and presented as the frontispiece; a fine copy.
Reprint; first published in 2009 but still carrying the 2009 to the title-page (and frequently mistaken for a first edition). A celebration of the natural wildlife of the artist's homeland of Canada. Sold with a pictorial bookplate by van Sandwyk in colours depicting a mouse reading by the light of a candle, signed by the artist.
