First edition in English. Tretyakov had gained Far Eastern military experience already during the boxer rebellion. As commander of the 5th East Siberian Rifles Rifles regiment he heroically fought the Imperial Japanese Army at the battle of Nanshan, were he was wounded. He continued to lead his unit through the siege of Port Arthur.
