First edition in this form. The Book of Snobs is a collection of Satyrical works which appeared in 53 weekly pieces from February 28, 1846 to February 27, 1847, as "The Snobs of England, by one of themselves", in Punch. In Sketches and Travels in London he continues in a similar vein, documenting variously amusing, annoying, and appalling experiences in Britain's capital city, which include balls, dinners, children's parties, gentlemen's clubs, the opera, and even a public hanging. Of course, he has a wicked observation to make about each.
