First edition. Twelve years after Anne Bronte addressed the issue in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, the Nottingham authoress Eliza Oldham (nee Sutton), 1822-1905, produced this temperance novella dealing with the destructive evils of drink on family relationships. She is better known for her prize-winning novel "By The Trent", published in 1867 by the Scottish Temperance League, which won £500 offered by the League for "Best Temperance Tales".
