The Arabic version of the Pahlavi original was translated into Persian by Ibn Isfandiyar. Tansar was the Zoroastrian high priest under Ardashir I (6th century A.D.) and wrote this epistle to a vassal king, exposing the corruption and heresy to Zoroastrianism. The text illustrates the political, social and religious turmoil of the period.
