First edition of Politics as Science, a liberal, utilitarian and nationalist view of Russian politics, extolling the difference of Russian society to Western societies, and the role politology as a science can play in analyzing the status quo of Russia. Stronin, who was born in 1826 as the son a serf, was an early sociologist and political thinker, who emphasized the role of the intelligentsia in reconciling the diverging social forces in an increasingly autocratic regime.
