STEFANSSON, Vilhjalmur. Hunters of the Great North. London, George G. Harrap & Company, [1923].

8vo. Original dark blue pictorial cloth, lettered in white; pp. 287, 2 fold-out maps to throw clear, 25 photographic illustrations on plates; cloth only lightly rubbed and sunned at spine, but a good solid copy, occasional brown-spotting due to offsetting from illustrations, mostly affecting the beginning of the preliminaries, otherwise clean.
First English edition. By the intrepid explorer and anthropolgist of Arctic life and author of The Friendly Arctic (1921) and My Life with Eskimo (1913), Hunters of the Great North presents a newly revised study of the Inuit and their way of life; Stefansson retells his impression of Arctic life, based on improved knowledge and experience of the subject, at some points contradicting statements he had made in his earlier and perhaps less mature publications. Punctuated by some interesting photographs, including two of igloo-building.
