ST LEGER, Capt. (author and illustrator). War Sketches in Colour. London; Adam and Charles Black, 1903.

Large 8vo., original navy blue decorative cloth strikingly panelled in red and mustard to spine and upper cover, lettered gilt, top edges gilt, others untrimmed; pp. xiii + [i], [1]-274; with a total of 66 plates printed in colour and tints and 100 line drawings in the text; externally uncommonly fresh and clean with minor bruising to spine ends and slight rubbing to edges, internally very good with previous owner's armorial bookplate to front pastedown endpaper, 2 very short, closed and unobtrusive edge tears (6mm and 26mm), now neatly repaired to the reverse with archival tissue tape, extreme fore-edge of two leaves slightly rucked, and some sporadic light foxing affecting text and guards, but plates fine; an elusive title.
First edition, one of only 2150 copies. A series of sketches in prose and image depicting episodes in the Boer War. Inman 86.
