Ecumenical, yet Catholic lecture on the Virgin Mary, putting faith and the scripture above sectarian divisions of the Christian denominations. Critical of established Churches, James Speirs argues for Christianity beyond churches. 'If we find that the church, whether Roman Catholic, of Episcopalian, or Presbyterian, or however called, teaches doctrines that are contrary to the Word of God, what shall we say?' (p. 12). - Definitely not call for the Faith Commission. In 1902 the Reverend James Speirs made a major contribution to Guyanese ethnography, by publishing a collection of over 1000 Guyanese proverbs.
