First editions, disbound from the Transactions of the Geolgical Society of London Volume II. The two papers included here are "Notice on the Geology of the Ponza Isles" and "On the Volcanic District of Naples". Scrope was one of the foremost experts on volcanoes of this time, and his work helped to cement Hutton's theories. The second paper here is an important survey of Veusvius, which he had witnessed erupting in 1822; at that time he had also visited the volcanic Ponza islands.
