A fictional account set during the Russo-Japanese war (1904-1905), by Scidmore - an american writer, photographer and geographer who based the book on her travels to Japan during that conflict. It is the only known book of fiction she ever published, preferring scholarly journals and guidebooks. It was also her last published book before her death in 1928.
