First edition, presentation copy, warmly inscribed and signed by the author on initial blank Long live the Managing Agent! The author was a member of a merchant's house in Mumbai and describes with sympathy the last days of the Raj and the emerging new India and Pakistan of the mid-century. Russell had friends among Indian nationalists and mingled with progressive circles, before and after independence.
