RUSSCOL, Herbert. The Liberation of Sound. An Introduction to Electronic Music. Englewood Cliffs, N.J., Prentice-Hall, Inc., .
8vo. Original cloth with illustrated dust-wrappers; pp. xxv, 315, plates after photographs, a few diagrams in the text; apart from light discoloration to lower outer corner of wrapper and boards, a very good copy.
First edition, presentation copy, inscribed in 1973 by the author to Marcel Rodd, who presented this copy in 1981 to his daughter. Marcel Rodd (1912-1998) is best remembered for setting up a British record label for affordable classical music, and Russcol had written a book titled Guide to Low-Priced Classical Records. This book by Herbert Russcol is one of the earlier investigations of the emerging genre of electronic music. He predicts that the computer will replace the synthesizer soon.
