ROYAL YACHT - Victoria and Albert II. 'Saluting the Queen's Yacht. Plymouth Sound'. Colour lithograph, c. 1878.
Mounted and framed, image (380 x 560 mm), lightly cropped, lower margin with caption supplied in calligraphic ink, tiny surface scratch.
This is a very rare depiction of Queen Vistoria's two-stack three-mast yacht, launched in 1855, scrapped in 1904. The sister ship, built to the same specifications, is the oldest steamer still in service. El Horria was commissioned in 1865 for Isma'il Pasha, the Khedive of Egypt.
Apparently not in the Royal Maritime Museum.
