PHILBY, Harry St John Bridger. Arabian Days. An Autobiography by H. St. John B. Philby. London, Robert Hale Limited, 1948.
8vo. Original blue cloth gilt, man in Arabian head dress (a portrait of the author) blocked in gilt to upper cover with the rarely seen dust-wrappers, not price-clipped; pp. xvi, 336; numerous illustrations, mostly from photographs; very light wear to edges of wrappers, minor offsetting from endpapers, a little spotting to edges, else a very clean and fresh copy.
First edition, first impression, getting rather scarce now. This is the autobiography of a man who played a pivotal role in the development of the Middle East. Philby worked for the Indian Government, was involved in the building of Iraq and extensively explored the Arabian Desert.
