OWENS, Bill. Suburbia. San Francisco: Straight Arrow. 1973.
4to. Original green cloth, title to front in blind, titled in white to spine; 108 pp., 128 black and white photographs; with untitled print signed by Bill Owens; without slipcase, otherwise fine.
First edition, the rare hardcover issue. This was one of the most popular photobooks of the 1970s partly because of the obviously intimate and personal nature of Owen's project. He photographed his own community and allowed his subjects to speak for themselves in the captions, providing a very balanced view of American suburbia.
The print reproduces a photo from the book, an interior at Christmas with Ronald Reagan on the television, four times and is signed and numbered in black ink in the bottom right margin.
