OCCULT OBSERVER The Occult Observer No.1, May 1949 London, Michael Houghton, 1949.

8vo. Original printed wrappers, staple bound; pp.64; bright orange covers (unfaded), ink annotation to p.20 (reading "very good"), bumping to lower fore corner impacting p1-30, a sound copy of a fragile ephemera piece.
The first issue of the Occult Observer, which ran for six issues between 1949-1950. This issue includes "The Matrix of Mythology", an illustrated parable by Michael Juste, and an essay on the Unconscious by John Cooper Powys, amongst others. This issue also contains a biographical note on Dion Fortune. Issues from this series are sometimes found in a bound volume of 6 released by Houghton at a later date — copies in the original wrappers are unusual survivals due to their fragility.
