First edition of this biography with a final chapter were Nutting tries to prove that TEL was a masochist with sadist tendencies. One drawing by Kennington used in the privately printed edition of Seven Pillars 'The drawing, entitled "Strata", is of Lawrence as a god-head above the clouds looking down upon a scene of struggle on earth representing the Arab Revolt. Lawrence was utterly amazed when Kennington showed him his drawing and kept repeating that he could not believe that anyone could have captured so completely what at times he had felt about himself during the desert campaign' (p. 243f.).
Anthony Nutting, a politician and diplomat, was principal advisor to Sam Spiegel during the production of the film about the life of Lawrence of Arabia.
