MÜLLER, Victor. En Syrie avec les Bédouins. Les tribus du désert. Paris, Ernest Leroux,1931.
8vo. Original printed wrappers; pp. xii, 347, 9 maps; apart from light even browning a near fine uncut and unopened copy.
First edition of this ethnocraphic, geographic and political monograph of the Bedouins of Syria, concluding with the chapter headed Les Bédouins et la France, which indicates that France with her vast colonial possessions of Arabic speaking people needed and wanted to understand the nomads. This book aims at Syrian Mandate Colonial officials, urging them to tolerance of 'pre-modern' habits. Müller had gathered enough first-hand experience during the Great Syrian Revolt of 1925 to 1929.
