MILNE, A.A. (author). E.H. SHEPARD (illustrator). The House At Pooh Corner. London; Methuen & Co. Ltd. 1928.

8vo. Original salmon pink cloth lettered in gilt to spine, gilt pictorial vignette to upper board, pictorial silhouette endpapers, top edges gilt, other edges untrimmed; pp. [vi], vii-xi + 178 + [ii]; illustrated throughout in line and silhouette by Shepard; a very good, clean, sound copy, both externally and internally, with fading to joints and a hint of shadowed lightening to edges of boards, with a neat contemporary ink inscription, dated 1928, to front free endpaper.
First edition of the fourth volume in the Pooh Quartet, following When We Were Very Young (1924); Winnie-The-Pooh (1926); and Now We Are Six (1927). It is the second story book and introduces Tigger to readers. Hints that Christopher Robin is growing up are scattered throughout the work, culminating in the final chapter when the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood throw him a farewell party. It is suggested, but never explicity stated, that he is heading off to school.
