First Edition, One of 1000 copies This limited edition three volumne set famously revived Melville's near forgtten 1851 masterpiece during The Great Depression and can be credited for assuring its prominence as a true American classic. Kent produced over 300 illutrations for Moby Dick and his work was so revered that William Kittredge (Director of Design and Typography at Lakeside Press) would summarise their effect with the promise, "We will all go jump in the lake if this book is not the greatest illustrated book ever done in America". Moby Dick is a captivating phonomen which still conitnues to channel a myriad of new interpretation and inspiration.
