Sixth edition of altogether 31 (first, 1875) of one of the earliest and best guides with directory to Mumbai. Folding tables show 'Cotton Spinning and Weaving Mills in the Presidency of Bombay,' and 'Proposed Movements of Steamers of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. for the Year ending December 1881.' The author owned and edited the Bombay Gazette. He was Chairman of the Bombay Town Council and was elected a Fellow of Bombay University. This particular edition (all of which are rare) seems to be the first to contain original photographs. The two maps found in other editions are listed, but without place for the binder or page where they should be. This could indicate that they were not issued with this edition or could be obtained separately.
