Original decorative olive-green cloth blocked in darker and lighter green to spine and upper cover, top edges olivine; pp. liv, 361; with 4 coloured plates and 32 photographic plates throughout in sepia and a map; a very good, lightly dusted and rubbed, copy with a slight lean and a knock to bottom forecorner of uper cover; internally clean, without an ownership inscription, with two neat closed tears (invisibly repaired) to bottom edge of one text leaf (3cm and 1cm).
First edition in the second issue binding with cover letting in pale green rather than gilt. A volume in the Myth and Legend in Literature and Art series. Donald Alexander Mackenzie was a prolific writer on myth, anthropology and folklore in the early 29th century, and Myths of Crete and Pre-Hellenic Europe is considered one of his major works.
