LUNCZ, Moses Abraham [printer]. Hagadah for Passover with English Translation. Jerusalem, Luncz, [c. 1895].

12mo. Inlaid olive wood panels with printed cloth spine, lettered in Hebrew on front cover; ff. [1, title with vignettes, printed in lilac] 41; evenly browned due to paper stock; provenance: contemporary stamp M. Ch. Levinsohn - Jerusalem (Palestine) on front fly leaf; contemporary rubber stamp of the missionary Th. E. Zerbib in Mogador, an island off the Moroccan Atlantic coast, repeatedly in the book.
Luncz (1854–1918) was born in Kovno (Kaunas) and early on in his life he went to Jerusalem, where he wrote books on the topography of the city and surroundings. He ran a printing press in the Ezrat Yisrael neighbourhood, which had been founded by Rabbi Yaakov Meir in 1892.
We were only able to locate the Hebrew-German version, in the Leo Baeck Institute, in the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and at Univerity of Michigan. We could not trave any copy of this Hebrw-English version.
Provenance: The island of Mogador had a Jewish community and American Christian Missionaries began their activities in this part of Morocco in 1875. Zerbib was a member of the London Jewish Society for Promoting the Gospel Among the Jews.
