The publisher Michael Joseph somehow managed to get hold of high-quality paper during the restrictions put on publishers during the war, when the majority of British books was printed in small type with small margins and on inferior paper. The writer in both Chinese and English, Lin Yutang, is as well known as the inventor of the Chinese typewriter.
