Original rich honey cloth stamped in gilt with onlaid oval pictorial label to upper cover, in the original white pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [iv], 5-63 + [i]; profusely illustrated with 30 exquisite full-page, Art Deco-inspired, coloured plates presented in florally decorated surrounds and printed in soft hues opposite corresponding nursery rhymes with music; externally fine with glistening gilt, internally clean throughout with slightest signs of handling, the usual offset-browning to free endpapers, and a neat contemporary gift inscription to front blank; protected by a near fine, and uncommonly clean, dustwrapper with one tiny edge tear (7mm) and a little minor shelf-rubbing.
Early edition, printed by Edmund Evans at Rose Place, Globe Road, with dustwrapper listing titles up to Old Dutch Nursery Rhymes which was issued in 1917. First published in 1912.
A very pretty collection of traditional nursery rhymes, with music alongside, including, Lavender Blue, There Was A Crooked Man, See-Saw Margery Daw, Little Tom Tucker, Simple Simon and London Bridge is Falling Down.
