First edition illustrated by Le Cain; issued without a dustwrapper. Errol Le Cain was a British animator and children's book illustrator who won the Kate Greenaway medal. He had a long association with Faber which began in 1968 and continued until his death in 1989. He was to write three and illustrate forty-eight children's books during his lifetime, which are recognised for their richly decorative watercolours and masterful command of design and colour.
