Fourth edition of John Forbes's translation of this important work by the father of clinical auscultation, the use of a stethoscope to listen to the respiratory and circulatory systems. His skill in the carving and playing of wooden flutes led him to his revolutionary invention. Laennec was also responsible for the classification of pulmonary diseases such as pneumonia, pleurisy and emphysema.
