We were not able to find out more about the author, than that he was a Scottish priest, who travelled widely in the Middle East. The book is divided into three parts; The Land, The Invaders, dealing with Jews, Romans, Christians, Muslim and crusaders. The last part is assessing Christianity as a socio-geographic phenomenon of the Middle East, and describes the interface of landscape and spirituality.
