8vo. Original deep charcoal grey boards illustrated and lettered in silver, in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [iv], 5-190 + [i]; full-page plates printed in blue together with illustrations in line by Leslie Stead; a very good clean and bright copy with a touch of turning to bottom forecorner of upper cover, internally very clean throughout, just slightly and evenly toned as usual, in an attractive, lightly-dusted, unclipped jacket (6/-) with small nicking to head of spine and forecorners, a little edge-rubbing, and a few light and barely visible scratches to upper panel.
First edition. An adventurous tale, set in the Antarctic. The story is based on the true case of the missing wreck The Starry Crown, which was one of the great unsolved mysteries of the sea.
