Rare first edition of a good cookbook containing 126 Chinese, European, Indian, Javanese and Malay influended recipes. Mrs. Hing was from central Java, which under Dutch rule was the hub of the Chinese-Indonesian community. She writes in the introduction that 'one of the most attravctive things about living in Malaya is its many and varied races, affording as it does many opportunities to absorb something from each and everyone' (p. 7).
