RRS Discovery, launched on 1901, was again on a Southern marine science mission. The vessel had undergone a refit in 1923 and in October 1925 she sailed for the South Seas to chart the migration patterns of whale stocks, as part of the Discovery Investigations, with zoologist Sir Alister Hardy on board. Whaling stations on South Georgia were visited and are illustrated, and the distribution of krill between South America and Graham Land charted.
