Very rare first edition of this publication to encourage 'thousands of men out of employment' to join in the hunt for gold and 'make $3.00 to $50.00 a day if willing to work' (Preface). This is followed by some recent gold strikes and their values before prospecting, and washing techniques are dwescribed. The author then deals with the conditions of states with gold deposits, beginning with the most important one, California.
