Original black cloth, stamped in gilt on cover and titled and decorated in gilt to spine, top edges blue, with publisher's acetate protective jacket lettered in red, and still retaining the illustrated 6-page prospectus on 3 folded leaves, tucked in under the front flap; pp. [xliv] + 355; a fine tinted wood-engraved frontispiece printed on tissue together with hundreds of bold and striking wood-engraved illustrations throughout, printed several to a page or full-page, in dense black inks; a near fine copy with the merest suggestion of fading to spine and some speckles to edges of book block, internally otherwise remarkably fresh.
