FLORENCE. Vedute di Firenze [cover title]. [Florence, no date, c. 1825].
Oblong 4to. Contemporary Italian paper-covered album containing 30 aquatint plates (image size 140 by 185 mm), finely hand-coloured, occasionally in gouache, green painted wide margins with borders in black, captioned in ink; wear to binding, a few margins with discolouration and light trace of humidity; highly decorative.
An unusual, and brightly coloured album of Florentine piazzi, architecture, church interiors, and surroundings, with the aquatints executed by at least two different artists. The fine and precise colouring of a few plates was left unfinished. This and the painted margins seem to suggest that the album, which is of utmost rarity, was actually a prototype produced for a print seller in Florence at the time.
