FLANDIN, Eugène Napoleon, and Pascal COSTE. Voyage en Perse. Perse Moderne. Planches. [Heathfield: Ernest Faridnay, 1976].
Imperial folio. Original blue half-morocco over marbled boards by Zaehnsdorff, raised bands, two red morocco lettering-pieces to spine, all edges gilt, original slipcase; 6 printed leaves and 100 facsimile plates of the original tinted lithographs; very well preserved.
Number 214 of the limited facsimile edition of 600. This is one of the most magnificent works on landscape and architecture of Iran. It is more often encountered in the remainder 'binding' of loose sheets in a cloth box. The original had appeared in Paris, with text volumes, from 1845 to 1854. We assume that many copies went to pre-revolutionary Iran and might have perished. - Weight: 11 kilograms.
