[FAIRIES]. MEDHURST, Cope (author). Thirteen Fairy Stories, As told to Betty, Sylvia and Norman. Llandudno: Evans & Evans, circa 1910.
8vo. Original ivory cloth panelled and decorated in blue and lettered in gilt to spine and upper cover, top edge plain, others uncut, pictorial grey endpapers; pp. [xii], -160, printed on fine mould-made paper; with photographic frontispiece of the author's children printed in sepia and 9 fairy plates guarded by glassines and tinted in pastel colours together with chapter headings in line; a nice copy with some overall dusting, rubbing, and superficial flaking to tail, internally generally nice but with sporadic spotting and foxing (quite insistent in places) and some staining to the fore-edge of 2 leaves, with one or two thumbnail chips to the fore-edge due to careless opening; genuinely genuinely rare.
First edition. Apparently a vanity publishing project consisting of bedtime stories related to the author's own children, all with a fairyland theme. The illustrator is unacknowledged although the quality of the artwork, and the production of the publication in general, is unquestionably of a professional standard.
Unlocated. No copy listed on Copac or WorldCat and none listed commercially at the time of cataloguing.
