EDWARDS, Amelia B. A Midsummer Ramble in the Dolomites. London, George Routledge and Sons, 1890.

8vo. Publisher's original blue cloth, image of mountains blocked in white to upper cover, lettered in gilt to upper cover and spine, edges uncut; pp. 389; numerous wood-engraved illustrations including some full page, folding map; extremities minimally rubbed, browning to endpapers, a very good copy.
Second edition (first, 1873), and the first with this abbreviated title, updated and revised. 'Born in London, Amelia started working in journalism to help earn money for her elderly parents. A prolific writer, she wrote a myriad of articles, as well as books on the history of England and France. As an independent woman, Amelia travelled a lot, for her work and because she enjoyed visiting other countries and seeing their cultures. It was during a visit to Egypt over the winter of 1873-1874 that she decided she would dedicate the rest of her life to protecting Egypt’s ancient sites' (Trowelblazers, online).
