First edition, one of 6000 copies printed. Druskin, born in 1905 began his carreer as concert pianist in Leningrad, before he became a teacher of music history at the Coservatory, publishing works on the staging and history of opera, as well as piano music.
Both OCLC and COPAC list only very few copies of the second, 1963, edition.
