BINDING, Rudolf A Fatalist at War. Translated from the German by Ian F.D. Morrow. London, Allen & Unwin,.
Original yellow cloth with dust-wrappers (not price-clipped); pp. 246, ; cloth a little discoloured, the wrapper with few minor marginal flaws, apart from ownership inscription to front fly-leaf and light offsetting from endpapers, a very good copy.
First edition, third printing, of the war diary by a German soldier. Cyril Falls considered this book to be 'among the most vivid of German documents relating to the War'. Binding writes in the preface 'These sketches resist any effort to work them up, to collate or elaborate them. In recognition of their documentary value and to conserve their spontaneity, they have not been altered from the form in which they were originally written during the War' (p. 90).
