First US edition, same year as the UK, and scarcer on the market. Benson, the celebrated author of the Mapp and Lucia titles, was also a figure skating champion. Here he offers an introduction to Swiss winter sports with chapters on skating, skiing, tobogganing, ice-hockey, and details of winter resorts. The black and white illustrations are taken from original photographs by the Mrs. Audrey Le Blond, herself a mountaineer who pioneered winter climbing and founded the Ladies Alpine Club, and who was also in part responsible for the development of winter sports in Switzerland. Her photographs show, among other images, views of the Cresta Run.
