ATWOOD, Margaret. The Testaments. London: Chatto & Windus, 2019.

Large 8vo., original publisher's green cloth boards, painted in white and embossed with title and author to upper board and spine; swiss fall-down-back style binding; navy blue endpapers; all edges green; with chapter and section headings printed in navy, green, or with a marbled design; pp. [xiii], 4-419, [v]; all housed in a custom-made fall-down-back blue cloth box; with marbled interior and upper/lower edge; complete with navy ribbon pulls, the upper cover embossed 'Cardinal Newman/ Apologia Pro Vita Sua'; the entire book also comes in the original card case with '76' number sticker; fair to say, an as-new copy (cardboard box with a couple of very minor knocks).
Exclusive limited edition of just 100 copies, this no. 76 signed by Atwood in blue ink to the limitation page. The interior and case art has been designed by Suzanne Dean and Noma Bar, with the marble design by Jemma Lewis. The book was issued in conjunction with the publisher's trade edition, to mark the landmark publishing of the sequel to 'The Handmaid's Tale'.
Atwood's long-anticipated second novel in the handmaid series follows Offred's daughter, several years in the future of the Gilead saga, as she struggles to come to terms with the totalitarian society. Upon publication, the novel instantly won the Man Booker Prize for 2019. The lettering on the front of the box is a reference to one of the characters, the keeper of a manuscript which housed private, incriminating documents on others in Gilead, and was kept in secret inside the covers of Cardinal John Henry Newman's Apologia Pro Vita Sua (A Defence of One's Life).
