It opened in the late nineteenth Century and was designed by Architect Ernst Ziller.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe hotel was orinally named The Victoria Hotel before being renamed Excelsior. Its popularity grew rapidly and it soon became the pillar of Athenian high society.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFollowing World War II the luxury hotel entered a period of decline and the hotel closed.
