Amery, an operative behind enemy lines, was active on the Balkans, including Yugoslavia and Albania during the Second World War. Later, in China, he worked on re-instating Chiang Kai Shek. In opposition to the other operative in the Blakans, Fitrzroy McLean, who favoured Tito, and Amery worked together with General Mihailovic in Serbia.
