8vo., brown boards gilt to spine; in the original unclipped jacket (10s. 6d. Net); pp. [iv]-5, [ii], 8-164; a near-fine example, the upper edge dust stained, the jacket very good, slightly darkened to spine, with some nicks to extremities and a couple of unobrtusive tape repairs.

A heartwarming memoir of writer, J.R. Ackerley's relationship with Tulip, a rescued Alsatian dog (named Queenie in real life). Isherwood described it as one of the "greatest masterpieces of animal literature," and the book was later the basis for a 2009 American independent animated feature film, with Christopher Plummer as the narrator for Ackerley's voice.
