The Hotel opened in 1933 and was designed by Architect Rene Darde. He was responsible for many of the buildings in St. Maxime and specialised in seaside Architecture.
The imposing building embraces the curve of the seaside road entering St. Maxime. David Hockneys painting "Hotel L'Arbois Sainte Maxime" sold at Sothebys, London for £2 million.
