Lloyd Triestino was founded in 1836. The opening of the Suez canal in 1869 brought enormous benefits. Regular passenger and cargo routes were started to the Middle and Far East.
The company is still active and remains the oldest shipping company. The name was changed to Italia Marittima.
This label was collected on journey from Trieste - Brindisi - Ports Said.
